Kittilee Compton Hanna Purvis, age 60, beloved wife, mother, and friend to many, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 21, 2011 after a courageous sixteen year battle that began with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Kitti resided in Bluffton, SC with her husband, Michael Dean Purvis. She will be greatly missed by him as well as her five children: Chris Hanna and wife Natasha of Myrtle Beach, SC, Laura Hanna Huggins and husband Keith of Chapin, SC, Kirk Hanna and wife Mandy of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jason Hanna of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Staci Purvis Stevens and husband Jonathon of Florence, SC. Grandma Kitt was blessed to be loved by her 11 grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Kitti was one of four children born to the late Rev. Dr. Carl E. and Martha Compton and was treasured by her 3 brothers and their spouses (Keith & Cherie Compton of Myrtle Beach, SC; Carl & Anne Compton of Rock Hill, SC; and Charlie & Tommie Compton of Bennettsville, SC). Kitti was a paralegal in the Grand Strand Area for several decades. She was a great pianist and spent two decades as the pianist at First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, SC. She loved mission trips and choir trips with her church, laughing, and being with her family. She exhibited incredible strength and courage, a zest for life, and a clever and contagious sense of humor for those who were blessed to know her. She leaves a legacy of selfless love and deep faith in Jesus. A celebration of life service will be held on December 23, 2011 at 3:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, SC. The Reverend Bruce Crawford will officiate with the Reverend Doctor Wayne Brown and Reverend HS Yarborough assisting. The family will receive friends and visitors after the service in the church fellowship hall from 4:30 until 6pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or Martha Compton Association Missions Offering, c/o First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, SC, 500 4th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
