Kristi D. Hawkins, age 71, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Savannah, GA and Scotch Plains, NJ died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at home.
Mrs. Hawkins was born on January 23, 1947 in Sarasota, FL, the daughter of the late Andrew and Alice Murdoch. She attended Bloomfield College and completed her formal education at Berkeley Secretarial School. She began working with the administration staff of Proctor and Gamble and later worked with Dermatologist, Dr. Jerold Graff in Westfield, NJ. While living in the lowcountry she worked in credentialing with Dr. Anthony Costrini in Savannah. Kristi was a member and past district president of the Scotch Plains PTA serving both McGinn Elementary and Terrill Middle Schools. She was also a member and Past Worthy Advisor of the Westfield Assembly, International Order of Rainbow for Girls and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Outside of work and civic involvement she enjoyed sewing (grandchildren’s clothes), tennis, traveling (Walt Disney World being her favorite) and being with her family.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Harold “Chip” Hawkins; sons, Timothy Hawkins (Jacy) and Michael Hawkins (Kelly); sister, Janice Murdoch (Denis Bilodeau); and grandchildren, Hayden, Grayson, Madison, and Mason.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2019 at Lowcountry Presbyterian Church and a Celebration of Life will take place from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, NJ 07023.
