Kurt Emil Bayer, born in 1944 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, passed away on April 17, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by dedication to family and a love of The Lord.
In his early childhood, Kurt immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in Ridgewood, Queens, New York. he then went on to attend Long Island University, earning a degree in economics. He would go on to build his life across several states, living in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before spending his final 12 years in Bluffton, South Carolina—a place he came to call home.
Kurt proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. Though his service took place during a challenging time, he was fortunate to be stationed in Key West, Florida, aboard a submarine tender, where he carried out his duties with honor.
A man of many passions, Kurt had a deep love for travel and photography, capturing moments and memories wherever he went. He was also a true foodie at heart, always eager to explore new flavors and enjoy a good meal in the company of those he loved.
Kurt is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Peggy, and his daughter, Cindy Fowlis (Ian), of New Providence, New Jersey. he is also survived by two grandchildren, Brandon and Kayla also of New Providence. His presence, warmth, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
His memory will live on in the stories he told, the photographs he captured, and the love he shared so generously.
