L. David Jording, 75, of Hilton Head Island, SC died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at his home. Mr. Jording was born in Turtle Lake, ND, the son of the late Edwin Michael Frederick Jording and Evelyn Mae Radenzal Jording. He served his country proudly in three branches of the military, ultimately retiring from the United States Army. Following his military tenure he worked for many years as a physical therapist until retiring to Hilton Head, SC. While living in Hilton Head, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed his time with the Hilton Head Plantation Farmers Club. He was also a devoted member of Island Lutheran Church. Mr. Jording was preceded in death by his late wife, Joan Jording; infant son, Derek Jording; brothers, Howard, Michael, and Leonard Jording; and sister, Helen Schneider. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Jording; daughter, Mollie Sandman (Brian) of Bluffton, SC; son, Matthew Jording (Carol) of Bluffton, SC; brothers, Victor Jording of ND and Paul Jording of IA; sisters, Ida Leiding (Jim) of CO, Linda Jording of WI, and Ruth Wilson of TX; as well as his grandchildren, Ayden Jording, and Colin, Allison and Meghan Sandman. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2015 at Island Lutheran Church, 4400 Main Street, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Island Lutheran Church.
