Lanette Carolyn Stair

Lanette Carolyn Stair, age 85, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed peacefully at her home on July 14, 2023.

Lanette was born on November 22, 1937 in Emanuel County, Georgia and was the daughter of Caleb and Inez Cowart of Savannah, GA.

Lanette spent her entire life living in Coastal Georgia and South Carolina. She was raised in Savannah but relocated to Bluffton in 1970, where she has since resided on the banks of the May River.

Lanette worked as an accountant for over 22 years for both the Bluffton and Hargray Telephone Companies. She has been an active member of the Church of the Cross for over 55 years. She has served as the church treasurer, caregiver in the nursery and preschool, and as a docent.

She was preceded in her death by her husband Paul L. Stair and her parents.

Lanette is survived by her children- daughter Laura Grayson (Billy) of Awendaw, SC; son Jim Hudson (Donna) of Bluffton, SC; son Craig Hudson of Atlanta, GA; and daughter Carol Rabel (Chip) of Simpsonville, SC. She has 12 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 1 great grandson and 4 great step grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Farris and Jackie Cowart of Skidaway Island, GA.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 21st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC.

The service will be held Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Cross in Bluffton, SC. There will be a graveside burial at the Bluffton Cemetery immediately following the service.
