Larry John Nelson, 87, of Bluffton, SC passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, at his home.

Larry was born March 1, 1938, in Peoria, IL to Frank Shield Nelson and Arlene M. Caldwell Nelson. He served six years in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he was a member of the pistol team. With a passion for cars, Larry worked for many years as a car salesman for Dobles Chevrolet in Manchester, NH and Berlin City Chevrolet in Gorham, NH. He worked for several years as a District Manager for Arctic Cat Snowmobiles.

Larry enjoyed riding snowmobiles and spending time on the water. He was an avid fisherman in both fresh and saltwater. After living many years in Nottingham, New Hampshire and Upton, Maine on Umbagog Lake, Larry and his wife, Susanne, relocated to Bluffton, SC for the warmer air and pristine golf courses.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his sons, Michael Nelson (Michelle) of Rochester, NH, Douglas Nelson (Karin) of Rye Beach, NH, and Charles Truelson (Florelita) of Southampton, England; daughter, Tara Boynton (Todd) of Thomaston, ME; brother, Terry Nelson (Joanne) of Greensboro, NC; two grandsons, eight granddaughters, one great-grandson; and his beloved dog, Andy. Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Nelson and one granddaughter.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
