Larry Monroe Smith

Larry Monroe Smith, 68 of Early Branch, SC passed away on March 16, 2016 in the Hampton Regional Medical Center, Hampton, SC. Larry was born in Ridgeland, SC on May 5, 1947 to the late Ward Monroe Smith and Margaret Smith. After serving in the US Air Force, Larry was recruited by Ross Perot to work at Electronic Data Systems (EDS), which later became a part of General Motors and more recently bought by Hewlett Packard. He remained with the company until his retirement. Larry was a member of the Pine Level Baptist Church; avid reader; returned to Grays,SC from Texas after retirement where he enjoyed his woodworking shop; driving his tractor and solving the New York times crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Crosby Smith of Grays; his sons, Jeffrey Todd Smith of Mills, Wyoming and Christopher Howard of Chattanooga, TN; his daughters, Jennifer Smith of Jarrell, TX, Dana Katherine (Katie) Curtis of Austin, TX, Laura Davidson (Casey) of McKinney, TX and Chea Howard Ward (Tom) of Rock Wall, TX; his brothers, Jonathan Ward Smith (Sue) of Guyton, GA and Glen Anthony Smith of Ridgeland, SC; sisters, Patricia Jean Smith (Johnny) of Grays, SC, Cheryl Judith Crosby (Wayne) of Grays, SC and Sandra Kay McDonald (Don) of Lenoir, NC and grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Macayla Smith, Madalyn Smith, Noah Curtis, Liam Davidson and Angie Davidson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Pine Level Baptist Church, Early Branch, SC with burial in Grimes Cemetery, Grays, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm until the hour of the service. The family requests memorial donations to the charity of your choice in memory of Larry Monroe Smith. Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
