Laura Lou Rummans passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Dorothy Sample Rummans and Mack Lewis Rummans. She was born in Columbia, South Carolina on March 27, 1952. She attended Columbia schools graduating from A.C. Flora High School in 1970. Laura attended Wesleyan College and the University of South Carolina. After graduation, she attended the University Of South Carolina School Of Law. She worked as an estate planning attorney in Florida.
Laura was an active member of her church families in Florida as well as Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Columbia. She enjoyed her volunteer work with charities and fund-raising events and numerous passions including photography, gardening and interior design.
Laura is survived by her brother, Fred Rummans (Julia) of Hilton Head, niece and nephew, Angela and Chase Rummans, also of Hilton Head, her cousins Carol Sample and Cary Kreps of Columbia, SC and Julie Sample Petroff (Walker) of St. Helena Island, SC.
A graveside memorial service to celebrate the life of Laura Lou Rummans will be held on Sunday, May 26 at 2:00 at Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia.
