Lawrence "Larry" Powell

Lawrence "Larry" Powell, 71, of Bluffton, SC passed away on Tuesday May 10, 2016 surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Fannie and Edward Powell, Jr. Larry was a longtime resident of Ravena, NY and retired to Bluffton, SC for the past thirteen years. Larry served in the United States Air Force. Larry worked for many years for Bud Kearney Ford Dealership of Ravena and served as the Highway Superintendent of the Town of Coeymans. For many years, Larry volunteered as a coach for Hudson Valley Little League and Pop Warner Football League. Larry had a passion for baseball, golf and fishing. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of forty six years, Patricia; his two sons, Eric (Elaine) and Ryan (Andrea) Powell; his adoring grandchild, Ty Powell; brothers, Richard, Donald and Marvin Powell; sisters, Eleanor Duncan, Velma Kiley; and several cousins, niece and nephews. Sisters Shirley Broadnax, Marjorie Kudlack and brother, Charles E Powell pre-deceased him. A memorial service for Larry will be celebrated at Bluffton United Methodist Church, 101 Calhoun St., Bluffton SC 29910 on Monday May 16, 2016 at 11:00 am. A second memorial service honoring Larry will held at Grace United Methodist Church, 16 Hillcrest Dr., Ravena, NY 12143 on Saturday May 21, 2016 at 11:00 am.
