Leon Raymond Patry

Leon Raymond Patry, loving father, grandfather, and companion, died on December 21, surrounded by his family. Born a twin in Toledo, Ohio, on May 25, 1941, and raised in Medina, Ohio, Leon was the son of the late Nita Arnold Patry and Maurice Patry. Leon was a graduate of Medina High School in 1959 and attended Case University. After attending college, Leon committed his skills and expertise for more than 25 years at Adjustapost, where he retired as President and General Manager. Enjoying an early retirement, Leon moved to Sun City in Bluffton, South Carolina, where he spent the winter months, but his heart always led him back to Put-In Bay, Ohio, where he was a life-long, part-time citizen. Following a family tradition spanning generations, from birth, he spent time on the island, and in retirement he enjoyed every spring and summer there. Lee was a known presence by all, sitting on his porch in his rocking chair greeting passers by and looking out at the boats on beautiful Lake Erie. Leon was an active member of Medina Morning Kiwanis for more than twenty-five years He served as a consultant for numerous boards of directors for companies across the country, and he was active in S.C.O.R.E in both Ohio and Beaufort, SC. Leon enjoyed volunteering at the Bluffton Police Department for fifteen years as a liaison between the public and department employees. Leon also contributed to the Department by sponsoring a police dog through purchase of a protective vest. Surviving are his loving companion of seventeen years, Laura Borckardt; two daughters, Sheryl Lynn Patry and Marsha Lee Patry; and granddaughter Anna Keltner Patry. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 23, at Saul's Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC. Family will receive friends after the service. An additional memorial service will be held in June in Put-In-Bay, Ohio.
