Leonard Vernon Bell

In loving memory of Leonard Vernon Bell September 23, 1921-May 6, 2017. Leonard Vernon Bell of 7 Long Cane Court Bluffton SC 29909 went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 6, 2017 at the age of 95. He had a blessed life. Leonard was employed by Cadillac Motors, Detroit MI for 41 years, and was married to his wife Anna Mae Harden Bell for 63 years having had 9 children together. He served the Lord gladly as organist at Westland Free Methodist Church for 35 years and gave multiple financial donations to support ministry and missions. Leonard retired June 1, 1983 to Lakeland FL where he and Anna resided for 23 years. January, 2007 he and Anna moved to Bluffton SC to be closer to family. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents William L. And Edith E. Bell, his siblings Oscar (Katie) Bell, William E.(Lenoma) Bell, Warren (Elaine) Bell, Gordon W. (Lola) Bell, Margaret (Vern) DenAdel, his wife Anna Mae Harden Bell, his daughter-in-law Mary Anderson Bell, and son-in-law Jackie Ashley. He is survived by his nine children Leonard D. (Diane) Bell, Bonnie A. (Thomas) Bookout, James V. Bell, Carol L. (James) Verkennis, Merry A. (Dan) Honeycombe, Christina Ashley, Margaret E. (Lowell) Swoveland, Dale A. Bell and Gary L. (Rebecca) Bell; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held June 24, 2017 at 10 AM at Westland Free Methodist Church, 1421 S. Venoy Road, Westland MI 48186. A short inurnment service will immediately follow at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, 35667 W. Eight Mile Road, Livonia MI 48152.
