Lewis Douglas (Doug) Lancaster November 7, 1946 - November 8, 2013 Doug Lancaster of Bluffton, SC, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 8 at Hilton Head Hospital. Previously a long-time resident of Atlanta, Georgia, Doug and his wife Kay L. Long moved to Bluffton 5 years ago. Doug was born November 7, 1946 at Ft.Meade, Maryland. He was the son of the late James L. Lancaster and the late Catherine B. Lancaster of Gainesville, Georgia. Doug spent his early childhood in Germany and grew up in Okinawa, Indiana, Georgia, and North Carolina. His father retired from the military in 1963 and the family settled in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1964 Doug graduated from Northside High School in Atlanta and later from Georgia State University. In his long career in real estate, Doug owned and managed rental properties, invested in single family homes, and financed home mortgages. Doug married Kay L. Long of Atlanta, Georgia, on May 11, 1996. They were married over 17 years until his death. Doug loved to travel, bicycle, and play tennis and chess. He also enjoyed dining out with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Kay, his sister Linda Lancaster and brother-in-law Anatol Zukerman of Plymouth, MA, stepson Randy Long of Woodbine, MD, step-grandchildren Aiden and Cora Long, and his in-laws from Michigan. This wonderful man will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 15, at 11 AM, at Bluffton United Methodist Church, 101 Calhoun Street, Bluffton followed by a luncheon at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bluffton Self Help, PO Box 2420, Bluffton, SC 29910.
