Linda Louise (Buckingham) Jording

Linda L. Jording, 77, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, surrounded by family at home.

Linda was born in Coral Gables, Florida, the daughter of the late Eugene V. Buckingham and Mildred L. Utterback Buckingham.  She was raised for most of her young life in Nebraska, where she obtained her nursing degree and worked as the Head Nurse in an open heart surgery unit.  She married, raised a family, and upon her husband's retirement from the military, Linda, her husband, and their children moved to Northern Virginia where Linda worked in Human Resources for a large medical corporation.  Following retirement to Hilton Head Island, Linda was very involved with her church, Island Lutheran, as well as her children and grandchildren, all of whom lived within minutes of one another.  Her family was extremely important to her, playing an active and vibrant role.

Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, L. David Jording.  She is survived by her daughter, Mollie Sandman (Brian) of Bluffton, South Carolina, her son, Matthew Jording (Carol) of Bluffton, South Carolina, her brother Jim Buckingham of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, as well as her grandchildren, Colin, Allison, and Meghan Sandman and Ayden Jording.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 18, 2022 at Island Lutheran Church, 4400 Main Street, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, 29926.  Linda will be laid to rest with her husband, Dave, at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC at a later date.
