Lloyd H. Graves

Lloyd H. Graves, 82, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home in Bluffton, SC. Mr. Graves was born in Pritchardville, SC on August 25, 1931, the son of the late William Heyward Graves, Sr. and Katherine Davis Graves. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Estes for four years. During his military tenure he traveled extensively around the world. Upon returning home from the Navy, he married Sidney Beverly. Mr. Graves worked as a carpenter to build Hilton Head Island from the early years. He was an avid trout fisherman and farmer. He loved his tractor and working the land. Above all, he enjoyed being together with his family. Mr. Graves is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sidney Beverly Graves; sons, Glenn T. Graves of Ridgeland, SC and Neal W. Graves (Caroline) of Bluffton, SC; daughter, Angela D. Graves of Bluffton, SC; sisters, Gwendolyn Nansen of San Jose, CA and Yvonne Altman (Franklin) of Okatie, SC; grandchildren, Jessica N. Graves, Alexander H. Graves (Jessica), William L. Graves, and Nicholas L. Graves; and great-grandson, Alexander H. Graves, II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, W. Heyward Graves, Jr. and his sister, Dale G. Mills. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 followed by a graveside funeral service at 3:30 p.m. at Bluffton Cemetery.
