Lois Esther Hopkins

Lois Esther Hopkins, 94, of Bluffton, South Carolina formerly of Elyria, Ohio, went to Heaven on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, SC.  She was born April 27, 1928 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Ray and Lucy Spears Shivener.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death in 2017 by her husband, Carson Hopkins, whom she married on March 20, 1948 in Portsmouth, Ohio, and 3 sisters, Shirley Campel, Mary Kinney and Rita Kennard.

Lois lived in Elyria, Ohio for 53 years and retired from the Ridgid Tool Company after a very successful career.  She was always kind and gentle to everyone she met.  Her legacy as a caring wife, mother, MeeMaw, sister and friend will live on through loved ones committed to living their lives to the fullest in serving others.

Lois is survived by a son, Dr. David R. (Angelia) Hopkins, 6 grandchildren; Jody Harvey, Nathan (Kim) Hopkins, Johnny (Jena) Hopkins, Ashli Hopkins, Alex (Kelsey) Hopkins, and Nicole Hopkins, 10 great grandchildren; Fai Hopkins, Tristan Cowan, Silas Hayes, Peyton and Parker Harvey, Camden, Noelle, and Kate Hopkins, Addison and Alexis Hopkins, along with her sister Janet O’Dell.
