Lois Elaine Leonard

August 29, 1930 — January 25, 2022

I can do all things through Him who gives me strength (Phil 4:13)

Lois Elaine Leonard, 91 of Okatie Pines Resort Community in Bluffton, SC went to be with the LORD on January 25, 2022. She was preceded by her beloved husband of 69 years Larry Leonard who passed away in February 2021. Elaine is survived by her son Steve of Raleigh NC, her daughters Melissa of Savannah GA and Kim of Celina Ohio along with grandchildren Justin, Matthew, Alex, Kyle, Joshua, Tyler, and Britney; and great grandchildren Miyla, Everett, and Vincent. Elaine survived her two sisters and two brothers.

Elaine was born in Seattle Washington in 1930 and lived most of her childhood and young adult life in Terre Haute Indiana where she met her high school sweetheart and love of her life Larry at the age of fifteen. After getting married in 1951 during Larry’s senior year in college, Elaine and Larry lived in Germany where Larry was stationed after joining the US Army. After Larry’s military service, the couple settled in the North Brunswick NJ area, raised a family, and were very active in their local church. The highlight of their church experience was their personal acceptance of Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior following a revival weekend in 1973 hosted by a Christian ministry called Lay Renewal. Larry and Elaine became very active in this ministry by hosting many revival events in churches across the country for more than forty years encouraging countless souls, including their own family and friends, to receive Christ as Savior. Praise the LORD!

Elaine was active in her local church and community. She was a children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, co-leader of the North Brunswick Woman’s Club, and a Deaconess in her church. One of Elaine’s biggest accomplishments was to lead the effort to design and sew over 200 costumes for her church’s live Christmas Nativity drive-through display.

Before Elaine parted this fallen world to be reunited with her husband in God’s perfect eternal Kingdom, she expressed her heart’s desire for her family, friends, neighbors and all who read this obituary to personally receive the free gift of salvation by putting your faith in Jesus Christ. Elaine wants all of you to share the precious joy and peace that is now hers for all eternity.

A memorial service for Elaine will be held at Red Dam Baptist Church in Hardeeville, SC on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 10:30am. The family suggests attendees wear bright clothes to celebrate her life!
