Lois P. Tanner

Lois Potts Tanner went to be with her Savior on July 18, 2016 at her home in Bluffton. She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Billy G. Tanner, of Bluffton, SC and their three children. She was born in the small town of Santa Fe, TN on October 15, 1929, the daughter of the late Hattie and “Dutch” Potts. She completed high school in Santa Fe and subsequently moved to nearby Nashville, Tn. Prior to her retirement in 1985 she worked for Verizon Telephone Company for a 23 year period in the Nashville and Maryland areas. She and her husband made their home in Silver Spring, Maryland before and after they both retired. They moved to Sun City Hilton Head in 2003. She is survived by three children, Steve Tanner (Ann) of Leawood, KS, Robert Tanner (Carol) of Santa Fe, TN, and Elaine Evans (RJ) of Silver Spring, MD. She also has five grandsons and seven great grandchildren. Lois has been a churchwoman all her life, working primarily with children and nursery departments. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Columbia, TN.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Okatee Baptist Church Building Fund, 5467 Okatie Highway, Ridgeland, SC 29936 in memory of Lois Tanner. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC and Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home of Columbia, TN are assisting the family.
