Lonnie Calvin Graham, Jr.
June 2, 1945 – October 2, 2024
Lonnie Calvin Graham, Jr. 79, passed away on October 2, 2024 at Hospice Savannah. It was late in the evening, under a sea of stars with a cool breeze whispering through the mossy oaks, when Calvin was called home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Calvin was born Saturday, June 2, 1945 at the ending of World War II, to Lonnie Calvin Graham, Sr. and Margaret Lightsey Graham in Jesup, GA. He moved to the Lowcountry of South Carolina in 1966. Calvin served in the US Navy in the 1960’s during the Vietnam War. Calvin was a plumber by family trade but had a passion for the good ole days growing up on the farm in Jesup. He was a lover of all things outdoors including, gardening, canning, fishing in the crick, building rustic American furniture, gourd art, and just working with his hands.
He is survived by four sisters, Deanna Cramer, Anita Blanton (Tony), Gwen Cassidy-Tilton, Debbie Wentlein (Al), a loving companion, Josephine Latting, and her daughters, Jeanie Williams, Bobbi Jo Sellers (Craig), Jerelene’s children, Lesa Patrum (Joe), Ronald Bach, Donald Bach (Valerie), and a special friend, Janice Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jerelene Mathis Graham, a brother, Bobby Graham, a sister, Carolyn Drawdy Graham, a nephew, Colvin Drawdy, a niece, Denise Drawdy St. Martin, and two brother-in-law’s, Arthur Cramer and John Tilton.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Okatie, SC. A burial with Military Honors will follow the service in the church cemetery.
