Louie Grover Smith Jr.

Louie Grover Smith, Jr., 70, died Tuesday, January 06, 2015 at his home in Grays, SC. He was born in Ridgeland, SC on January 10, 1944 to Mary Elizabeth Davis Smith and the late Louie G. Smith, Sr. He was a retired SC Highway Patrol Communications Specialist; life member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons for fifteen years; Cemetery Committee Chairman for many years; member, Grays Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for several years; member and former chairman of Palmetto Electric Trust Board of Directors and a member of the Jasper County Tax Commission Board of Appeals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Smith of Grays, SC; sons, L. Grover Smith, III (Elisha) and Wade S. Smith (Cathy), all of Grays, SC; grandsons, Louie G. Smith, IV, Logan Darryn Smith; step grandchildren, Jordan, Christopher and Sydney. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Stanley Smith. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, January 9, 2015 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Grays, SC with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 til 8 on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St. Ridgeland. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Beaver Dam Cemetery Fund, 4611 Beaver Dam Road, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
