The life of Louise Simmons
Louise Simmons was born on June 20th 1925 to James and Lucinda Simmons. She was educated in the Jasper County school system. Louise went to work at several different places during her life, finally retiring from the Palms Hotel. Louise bore three children Rochelle Simmons, Al Simmons (who preceded her in death) and her baby daughter, Joyce Simmons.
Louise was famous around town for always walking and looking good while doing it. She was often seen around town in her dress, heels and perfectly coiffed hair. Louise stayed active until her health began to fade. Louise was known among family and friends as a loving but no-nonsense woman. She would often sit on her porch and sip her coffee while offering words of wisdom to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Louise Simmons was preceded in death by siblings Esther Primus, Willie Mae King, Maryland Simmons, Edith "Betty" Simmons, Dorothy "Ga-man" and Robert "Donk" Simmons and granddaughter Grace Simmons.
Louise was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, November 11th, 2014. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, independence and endurance.
Louise "Weez" Simmons is survived by: Daughters Rochelle Simmons and Joyce Simmons (Lorenzo Linder) and (12) grandchildren,(29) great-grandchildren, (8) great-great grandchildren , nieces, nephews and a host of cousins whom she loved very dearly.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at New Road Baptist Church, Ridgeland, SC with burial following at Ferebeeville Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3-8pm, Friday, November 14, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland.
