Louise A. Wolfkiel

July 15, 1942 — July 17, 2024

Hilton Head Island

Louise Arzula Wolfkiel of Hilton Head, SC, passed away on July 17, 2024, at 82, after bravely battling several chronic illnesses.  She was born on July 15, 1942, in Kearny, NJ, where she grew up with her parents, Bertha and Lafayette Dulany, and three siblings, Lurline, Diane, and Johnny.

The family moved to West Virginia where Louise graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1960.  She married Robert Wolfkiel on November 23, 1963.  They had two children, Sharon and Bobby, whom she loved dearly.

The family settled in Clifton, NJ, until a job relocation took them to Puerto Rico. They resided there for more than 15 years, during which Louise worked as a 2nd-grade Teaching Assistant for an English-speaking school. A corporate move brought Bob and Louise to Tuscon, AZ, until they settled in Stone Mountain, GA, in the late 1980s.

She was an avid reader and game show viewer.  She loved to visit casinos and once won $600 on a slot machine!  She had a way with plants, was great at cards, Bingo, and cooking!  But most of all, she had a deep love for animals and cared for many cats and dogs. Louise's kindness and generosity were felt by many, and she was adored by her family and grandchildren. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone…always accepted people for who they were.  She will be greatly missed!

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Sharon; her parents, Bertha and Lafayette; her sister, Diane; and her brother, Johnny.

She is survived by her sister, Lurline; son, Bobby; daughter-in-law, Diane; and grandchildren, Daria and Gabby.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Indigo Pines, Fresenius Kidney - who helped her live her best life these past two years, the caregivers with South Carolina House Calls, and Crescent Hospice Care. Their care and compassion throughout Louise's life here were a source of comfort and support for the family.

The family warmly invites you, Louise's dear friends and loved ones, to a Funeral Mass at St. Francis By The Sea at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 26, 2024. Deacon Gerry Hand from St. Francis Catholic Church will be officiating.  The family will be receiving friends immediately following the service.
