Lydia “Biddie” Crewdson, 72, of Bluffton, SC died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Landmark Hospital in Savannah, GA. Mrs. Crewdson was born on November 12, 1943 in Sumter, SC, the daughter of George H. Ropp, Jr. and Lydia Toney Ropp. She taught at multiple colleges and universities throughout the United States and Pacific as a college professor. She attends St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and was a member of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, SC. She was active with the Sun City Theatre Club, the Sun City Chorus, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. She was also a Red Cross instructor and disaster relief worker. Mrs. Crewdson is survived by her husband, Robert W. Crewdson; mother, Lydia Toney Ropp of Lexington, SC; daughters, Velynda “Lyndi” Wickerson (Andy) of Englewood, FL and Candlyn “Candi” Ashcraft (Jeff) of Lexington, SC; brother, George “Dutch” Ropp (Susan) of Chapin, SC; and grandchildren, William “Willie” Wickerson, Grace Wickerson, Lauren Wickerson, Elizabeth “Laini” Ashcraft, and Catherin “Kati” Ashcraft. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Red Cross-Disaster Relief, the Lexington County Choral Society, or the Sun City Chorus.
