Lynn P. Glasser, aka Mary Clarke, faced her final challenge in this life at age 90, on March 27, 2022 in Beaufort, SC, with her daughter Nicole by her side. Her life was as amazing as she was. Lynn was a Hollywood actress, the 'Chevy Girl' on early 1950's TV, airline pilot and pioneering stewardess for the first Delta transatlantic flights in the 1940's; as well as a model for Revlon, business executive, and an 'A' list golfer in retirement. Lynn was truly a 'Renaissance woman' of her time.
Mary Clarke was born on her family's cotton farm near Courtland, AL on June 29, 1931. One of seven children born to Thomas and Sabra Parker, she was very ambitious and adventurous for a simple country girl growing up during the hard years of the Great Depression and WWII. She loved adventure and travel, and learned to fly a plane as a teenager. She was nicknamed "Lucky Lindy" after the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh. She later changed her name to Lynn after her nickname.
Her love of flying led her to become a stewardess and spokesperson for Delta airlines overseas in the 1940's. In her early 20's, Lynn moved to Hollywood, CA in 1951, and worked at United Television Productions studio. She appeared in several early TV shows such as 'Big Street' and 'Rawhide', and became the 'Chevy Girl' in the first car commercials produced on television; which were showcased on the 'Dinah Shore Chevy Show'. Lynn married Robert Sawyer, a television director, and had a daughter named Nicole in 1955.
After leaving Hollywood, Lynn moved to Chicago, IL as a struggling single Mother. She worked her way up to becoming a business executive and manager for the infamous Charles Finley, owner of the Oakland A's baseball team. She married the love of her life, Henry E. Glasser, a successful businessman and decorated WWII Army officer, in 1972. She learned to play golf, and became an 'A' List golfer, winning several tournaments.
Lynn moved to Ridgeland, SC to live with her daughter Nicole and family after her beloved husband Henry passed away in 2014. Lynn loved her family dearly, and will be best remembered for her caring heart, devotion, and the sacrifices she made for others. She was always giving, supportive and helping others in need regardless of the personal sacrifice. Her strength of character, courage, intelligence, determination, perseverance, faith in God, unselfish and giving lifestyle, as well as her amazing will to withstand and overcome overwhelming obstacles, made her an inspiring role model to all who knew her. Lynn's enduring legacy of love will live on in all our hearts.
Lynn is survived by her daughter Nicole Michelle Cole, Son in law Max Cole, and Granddaughter Angel Marie Cole of Ridgeland, SC. She is also survived by her step-daughters Kimberly Vaughn Glasser of New York, NY, and Chris and Randy Issacson of Idaho, along with their sons Jason and Adam Isaacson and families. Those also surviving her are her beloved neices and nephews: Dora Terry and family of Town Creek, AL, Pamela Voss and family of Decatur, AL, Terry Hathcock and family of TN, Janice Allen of MS, Vicki Schmidt of TN, Mike Parker and family of Lafayette, LA, Jocko Bogle and family of Decatur, AL, Donald Joe Parker of MS; as well as Melanie and Doug Hamm of Birmingham, AL, Diane Taylor and family of TN, Janie Scruggs and family of TN, Neil Letson and family of MS, Sandee Feldman of NV, Mary Finan and family of IL, and Dr Jon and Sharon Smally of CT; as well as many other loved ones.
