Lynn Jaekel Strenkofsky

Lynn M. Jaekel Strenkofsky, age 87, of Hilton Head, South Carolina, died peacefully at The Pines of Hilton Head, where she resided, on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Lynn, a descendant of Grover Cleveland, was born in Belleville, New Jersey to Frederic H. and Anna M. (nee Collins) Jaekel. She graduated from The Bergen School for Girls and Katherine Gibbs and began a varied career path that included stints as an administrative assistant at Union Carbide and research assistant at Masters and Johnson in Princeton, New Jersey, and many years in real estate sales with Coldwell Banker in St. Louis and later with Del Webb when she and her husband moved to Bluffton.

It was while working at Union Carbide that Lynn met the love of her life, Henry (Hank) J. Strenkofsky. They married in 1969 and enjoyed 43 wonderful years together until Hank’s death in 2013.

Lynn was an energetic volunteer at The Bargain Box thrift shop and was an active member of the congregation at First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head. Later Lynn joined Providence Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head where she sang in the choir and was a trained member of the Stephen Ministry.

In addition to Hank, Lynn was predeceased by her parents, three stepchildren-- Dave, Jim and Barbara and her older brother Roy and his wife Muriel. She leaves behind her stepdaughter-in-law Debby, several step-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews, and her dear friends at Providence Presbyterian Church who looked after her so kindly during this last difficult year.

A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held Tuesday, March 17th, 2026 in the Chapel at Providence Presbyterian Church. Donations in Lynn’s name may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church, 171 Cordillo Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.
