Mack William Thomas Iii

It is with great sadness the family of Mack William Thomas III, 62, of Hardeeville, SC announces his passing in his home on Saturday, December 14th, 2019. He was born April 4,1957 to his surviving parents, George and Joan Thomas, in Asheboro, NC, and was raised with his only and surviving sister, Teresa “Sissy” Hinshaw of Liberty, NC.

His life’s journey landed him a successful and fulfilling career as a professional land surveyor which allowed him to travel early in his career. Those travels carried him all over the nation where he met and befriended many wonderful lifelong friends which include his former wife, Pamela McKenzie. They settled in the Lowcountry and raised three beautiful girls: Elizabeth Kimbro of Savannah, GA, Amy Thomas-White (Byron) of Gastonia, NC, and Sarah Saunderson (Carlton) of Gastonia, NC.

Mack had a passion for music and proudly wrote and produced songs in his home studio. He loved his dogs: Misty, Dolly, and Gracie. Gracie is his only surviving pup who continues to be loved and will remain with those who loved Mack.

Mack joined his oldest grandchild, Kaymen Hamilton, in heaven and will forever be missed by his surviving grandchildren: Madyson Saunderson, Grayson Coester, Mackayla Saunderson, Zachary Coester, Isaiah Saunderson, Byron White, Faith Gross, and Myles White.

Services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC starting at 2:00 pm. Flowers can be sent to Laughlin Funeral Home, 147 Coleridge Rd., Ramseur, NC 27316 and monetary donations can be made to the ASPCA.

He wished to be at rest with his childhood family in the Mountains of NC. There will be an additional service Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Holly’s Chapel in Liberty, NC starting at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
