Madeline Benton Self

Madeline Benton Self, widow of Romie Dale Self passed away on October 26, 2019 at her home in Hardeeville at the age of 91.

Mrs. Self was born in Pritchardville, SC to the late Berry Benton and Lilla Cooler Benton and lived in the area of Pritchardville and Hardeeville where she met her husband, married and raised her children. Her joy was cooking for her family especially enjoying family gatherings at holidays and birthdays.

She was a charter member and served as Church Clerk of the Hardeeville Church of God for many years.  She was a faithful member and loved her church.

Mrs. Self leaves heartfelt memories to her sons, Don Edward Self (Fern) and Daniel Paul Self (Susan) all of Hardeeville and Leonard Abram Self (Penny) of Hendersonville, NC; her daughter, Sherry Floyd Grant (Pastor Ronnie) of Walhalla, SC; her brother, Tommy Benton (Connie) of Ridgeland, her sister, Dora Sauls of Beaufort, Margaret Thomas of Hardeeville, her grandchildren, Kimberly Davis (David), Tyler Self, Steven Self, Tiffanee Self, Donald E. Floyd (Jennifer and Jeremy Floyd (Misty) and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Rudolph and Billy Benton and her sisters, Idell Cooler and Patty Benton.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Purrysburg Cemetery, Hardeeville, SC.
