Marcia Carol (Lake) Lake-Mcgrath

Marcia Carol Lake-McGrath of Okatie passed away on May 29th 2022 at Coastal Carolina Hospital shortly after suffering a stroke, just two weeks shy of her 77th birthday.   Originally from Boston’s South Shore area, Marcia had been a resident of Hilton Head and the Low Country for 34 years.  She began her long nursing career by joining the U.S. Army and was stationed as a Lieutenant in Cam Ranh Bay Vietnam where she cared for both injured soldiers and local children.   Marcia later earned her Master’s degree in Nursing from Northeastern University in Boston.  She worked for many years as the head nurse of Surgical Recovery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Marcia is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, John “Jack” McGrath.

Daughter of Edward C. and Alice B. Lake, Marcia leaves behind her brother Edward, son Michael, and granddaughters Alice and Aisling Lake.

Marcia and Jack will be interred together at the High Street Cemetery, in Hingham Massachusetts.
