Margaret "Peggy" Beall Leake Ross

Margaret "Peggy" Beall Leake Ross, OFS, 89, a lifelong, faithful Catholic entered eternal life Friday, August 30, after a long journey thru Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Alexandria, VA, February 1, 1924, the eldest of four daughters, to the late Thomas Lewis Beall and Mildred Scott Beall. She is preceded in death by Mildred Beall Burk and is survived by Virginia Beall Rich and Rebecca Beall Reagan. Margaret met Shelton Francis Leake at age 16. Following Shelly's service in the European theater with the U S Army during World War II, Shelly & Peg married on June 27, 1946 and spent their married years in Rockville, MD, raising five children. Following almost 52 years of marriage, Shelly entered eternal life on January 12, 1998. Following Shelly's death, Peggy married Juan Ross and they relocated to Bluffton, SC in 2000. Juan entered eternal life on September 11, 2008. On October 4, 2008, Peggy was professed as a Secular Franciscan. She will be deeply missed by her 5 children and their families: Peg Leake Hicks and her husband Lewis of Silver Spring, MD; Thomas Leake and his wife, Ginny, of Rockville, MD and their children Dan and his wife Samantha of Tucson, AZ, and Christine and her husband Lucian of Washington, DC; Alfred "Skeeter" Leake and his wife Beth, and their children Jacqueline, Adam & Gregory of Woodbine, MD; Rosemary Leake DeWolfe and her husband John of Hilton Head Island, SC; and Timothy Leake and his wife Melissa, and their sons Sean, Austin and Connor. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, September 14 at 10am at Saint Francis by the Sea Catholic Church. Catholic Education was very important to Peg & Shelly, who sent their children to Catholic School, if you desire, donations may be made in her memory to Saint Francis Catholic School, 45 Beach City Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, September 14 at 10am at Saint Francis by the Sea Catholic Church.
