Margaret Ann (“Peggy”) Blake was sunshine personified. She was the brightest light in any room. Someone whose warmth, energy, and love were impossible to miss. She loved hard, she loved deeply, and she made sure the people in her life knew just how much they meant to her.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, to Arthur Charles Welles and Adele Costa, Peggy was the oldest of six children. At 19, she met the love of her life, Curt Blake, who would become her husband for nearly 63 years. Together they shared a life full of family and friendships, ultimately making their home on Fripp Island, South Carolina, a place that became a special part of her life.
Family was at the center of her world. She is survived by her husband, Curtis Blake Sr., and their sons, Curtis Blake Jr. (Peggy) and Christopher Blake (Michelle) and her six grandchildren whom she cherished, Tess, Cameron, Maddie, Haley, Casey and Bryn.
Nothing brought her greater happiness than being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were quite simply her pride and joy. She treasured the time she spent with them, celebrated their lives and accomplishments, and loved them with the same enormous heart she brought to everything she did.
Those who knew her will remember far more than the milestones of her life. They will remember the way she could brighten a room simply by walking into it. They will remember her warmth, her laughter, her fierce love of family, and the unmistakable energy she brought wherever she went.
She leaves behind a family who adored her, countless memories, and a little more sunshine in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
