Margaret Jane Doran

Bluffton: Margaret J. Doran, 92 died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at NHC Healthcare in Bluffton, SC. She was born in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of the late John Geary and Helen Myron Geary. She retired from the Herricks Public School District, and lived for over 63 years in New Hyde Park, NY where she was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. She was a past president of the Nassau County Columbiettes. Margaret moved to Bluffton in 2011 and became a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. She is predeceased by her husband of 63 glorious years, Robert Edward Doran. She is survived by her children, two sons Robert Edward Doran, Jr. (Lyn) of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey and John Joseph Doran of Altamonte Springs; two daughters, Valerie Doran (Linet) of Bluffton, SC and Nanette Clapper (Doug) of Phoenix, New York; six grandchildren, Michael Doran, Jacquelyn Blauvelt, Toria Scotto, Shanae Clapper, Douglas Clapper and Elena Doran; four great grandchildren Jayson and Nicholas Doran, Natasha Blauvelt and Cal Henry Clapper. She also leaves behind a beloved sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Chard of Sarasota, Florida. The family would like to thank the staff of NHC and the Benton House for their kindness and care. Viewing will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC between 5 and 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC with burial at 1:00 p.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with their arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the St. Vincent De Paul Society of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
