Margaret M. Fitzgerald

Margaret M. Fitzgerald, 84, of Callawassie Island, Okatie, SC. passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Marge was happily and lovingly married to Dr. John J. Fitzgerald for 56 years before his passing in 2011. She lived a long and happy life, which ended peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her brother Leo McEneny of Houston TX, sister Agnes (McEneny) Mooney of Palmetto FL, six children and their families: Catherine Rioux of Machias ME, Joan Fitzgerald of Greenfield MA, Stephen Fitzgerald of Swansea MA, Thomas Fitzgerald of Somerset MA, Joseph Fitzgerald of Fall River MA, and Michael Fitzgerald of Swansea MA, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Margaret enjoyed many interests in life. She was an active supporter and Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Director of the Cub Scouts well past the years her sons were in the organization. Margaret was a skilled and avid golfer, winning the ladies club championship many times at Touisset Country Club in Swansea MA while raising her family. She enjoyed golfing at Callawassie with her husband John, family, and friends late into her life. Margaret had a deep faith and was a servant of God who was active in her local parishes throughout her life. Services for Margaret will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, SC at 10:30 AM Friday, August 19, 2016 followed by interment at the Beaufort National Cemetery, and a Celebration of Life at Callawassie Island Club.
