Margaret "Peggy" Mallett

In Loving Memory of Margaret “Peggy” Ann (Nord) Mallett June 2, 1944 – September 20, 2025

Peggy Mallett, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 81 in Bluffton, South Carolina. Though her passing leaves a sadness in our hearts, her life was a beautiful tapestry of love, faith, laughter, and devotion.

Born in Boston and raised in the close-knit neighborhood of Savin Hill, Peggy was the eldest daughter of Robert Edward and Anna Muriel (Campbell) Nord. She often spoke fondly of her childhood—family dinners, praying the Rosary with Cardinal Cushing’s radio show, and watching Fulton Sheen’s Life Is Worth Living on Sunday nights. Her stories were filled with warmth, humor, and the kind of love that only grows in a home full of faith and tradition.

Peggy met her soulmate, Jim Mallett, while working at Filene’s in Boston. They married in 1967 and would be sharing their 58 Anniversary on November 24th, their partnership that was playful, devoted, and full of inside jokes and daily card games (Jim always let her win). Together, they raised six children, built a home filled with laughter, and created a legacy of love that will live on for generations.

She followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother and was a proud employee of telephone company retiring from Verizon after 27 years of service. But her true calling was being a Mom and Nana. Peggy poured her heart into her family—whether it was baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, knitting prayer shawls while reciting the Rosary or planning family trips to Disney. She made everyday moments feel special.

Peggy was a master Scrabble player, a fierce Rummy opponent, and a lover of penny slots and cruises. She found joy in the little things—summer trips to the NH’s White Mountains, amusement parks, and watching her children and grandchildren grow.

After retirement, they moved to Sun City where Peggy became an active member of St. Gregory the Great, attending mass as often as possible, and where she participated in many ministries and retreats. Her faith was her compass, and she lived it fully.

She is survived by her devoted husband Jim; her children Susan (Robert), James (Jennifer), Dianne, Christine (Douglas), Paul (Maria), and Robert (Betty); her grandchildren Justine (James), Robert Jr., Autumn, Luke (Liv), Margo, Taylor, Grant (Jennifer), Nick, and Paul; and great-grandchildren Michael, Lincoln, and Chandler Rae. She was preceded in death by her daughters Cindy, Mindy, Angelica and grandson Zachary. She also leaves behind her siblings Robert, Carolyn, and Marie, and her lifelong best friend Judy Mullaney.

Peggy was love personified. She gave it freely, received it graciously, and left everyone better for having known her.
