Margaret Elizabeth Vredenburgh

Margaret Elizabeth Vredenburgh passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2025, on Hilton Head Island, SC. She was 91 years old. Betty, as she was known to many, was a former forty-five year resident of Highland Mills, NY. Daughter of the late Edward and Eliza Ann White Yorke, Betty was born on April 24,1934 in the Bronx, New York. In 1968, Betty and her husband Bob stumbled upon the small hamlet of Highland Mills, NY and left the Bronx to build their home and raise their three children in this wonderful community they came to treasure dearly. Betty began working for the Town of Woodbury Police Department in 1978, a part-time job that eventually led to her working for twenty years with the department. But it was her family that was the most important part of Betty’s life. She was an extremely loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than to dote on her grandchildren. She lived a life filled with and defined by love and grace. Left to cherish her memory are her children, William Vredenburgh and his wife, Renee of Darien, CT; Robert Vredenburgh and his wife, Lisa of Marathon, FL and Laurie Douthit and her husband Kevin of Hilton Head Island, SC; and her beloved grandchildren Anna Baselice (Jonathan), John Vredenburgh (Mariah), Jackson Vredenburgh, Michael Vredenburgh, Samantha Vredenburgh, Catherine, Kevin, Lauren and Cailan Douthit and two great-grandchildren Charles Baselice and Freya Vredenburgh. In addition to her parents, Betty was also predeceased by her husband Bob of 56 years and her infant grandson James William Vredenburgh. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton SC and will be held privately.
