Marie Elizabeth Brumond passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 25 in Bluffton, SC surrounded by three generations of her family. Mother of four, Sue Ann Deverall (Peter), Cheryl Pufahl (John), Benedict Cramer (Barbara), and Tina Dickerman (Larry), she was also grandmother to nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Nothing gave her greater pleasure throughout her life than to be spending time enjoying her family.
Marie (née Degan) was born in Brooklyn and raised in Lynbrook where she met and married the love of her life, Benedict F. Cramer. Together they raised their four children in Rockville Centre, NY. Predeceased by her husband in 1970, Marie remarried in 1977 and her second husband died within a decade of their marriage. Since then, Marie found solace living near her children and moved several times over the next forty years to be close to them, ultimately residing in Bluffton where two of her children, Sue Ann and Ben lived with their spouses.
Known throughout her family, friends and acquaintances for her flair for fashion, Marie also loved home decor and kept herself busy sewing for her growing family well into her 90’s. She loved playing the piano and although not classically trained, could play any song by ear. She also loved family celebrations, boating, fishing, time at the beach, reading and crossword puzzles.
Marie was the embodiment of grace and grit not only her family but to all who knew her. Per her request, a private ceremony will be held by her children at a later date.
