Marie King, 77, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully April 29, 2026. She was born in Biddeford, Maine, in 1948 to Exilia King. After spending her early years in Maine, she moved to the Hartford CT area where she grew up with her siblings, Linda, Gary, Dean, Roy, and Michael.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology, she continued at Central Connecticut State University where she received her master’s degree in social work. She built a career caring for others as a Social Worker and Case Manager for the State of Connecticut.
With Don, her partner of 44 years, Marie loved to travel, always planning for the next trip. They travelled throughout the US, St. Croix, Italy, Greece, Spain, Mexico, Belize, and Israel. She was so happy to travel to Jerusalem and to Yardenit as part of a church group where she rededicated her baptism at the Galilee Baptismal site on the Jordan River.
Marie had immense pride and love for her family. She loved being Mémé to four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and Aunt Marie to all her nieces and nephews. Even after finding a home in the Sun City community of Bluffton, she made frequent trips to visit her family in Connecticut and Maine for special celebrations and vacations.
Marie had a creative spirit and found outlets in painting, jewelry, sewing and interior design. She was compassionate and generous in support of charities and volunteered her time at God’s Goods Thrift Store. She enjoyed playing billiards, reading, dining out, and shopping. Amazon is fortunate to have known her!
Marie inspired those around her with what it means to be a life-long learner, and always sought out ways to improve herself. She was a member of the Church of the Cross and had devoted faith in the Lord. Her relationship with The Holy Father brought her comfort and peace in her final weeks and days.
Marie is survived by her husband, Donald Geminani, daughter Wendie Seguin, son Bob Seguin (Nancy), four grandchildren: Matthew Seguin (Jayne), Stephani Aquino (Brian), Kevin Seguin, and Timothy Noto, five great grandchildren, her sister, Linda Roy, and four brothers: Gary Chasse (Gloria), Dean Chasse (Julie), Roy Chasse (Valerie), and Michael Chasse, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being made through Sauls Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 5, at the Church of the Cross – Cross Schools Campus, in the Chapel at 491 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton. A celebration of life reception will follow at Spanish Moss Hall in Sun City, at 1236 Sundance Drive.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, one of Marie’s favorite charities. Mailing Address: 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105.
