Marie Thomas Miller, 98, of Bluffton, SC and widow of the late J. Fred Miller, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in the NHC Healthcare Center. She was born in Fort Towson, OK on February 9, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Horace A. Thomas and Bessie Tanner Thomas Walrath. Prior to moving to South Carolina, she lived with her husband, Fred, for 50 years in Lexington, Kentucky, where Fred ran his own business for almost 50 years as an electrical contractor. In South Carolina, she was a resident of Sun City Hilton Head for 13 years. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Lowcountry Presbyterian Church in Bluffton, SC.She loved to dance, and we will always cherish our memories of Marie and Fred dancing together at the evening dances at Morningside RV Park when they would spend the winters in McAllen, Texas. She was a master gardener, and actually sold her produce to restaurants when they lived in Kentucky. She had a summer garden nearly every year. She was an accomplished seamstress and an outstanding cook, particularly with southern meals that included speckled butterbeans, her homemade goulash and cornbread. She loved to laugh and her happiest moments were times spent with those special friends and family members who made her laugh.She is survived by two children, one daughter, Marilyn M. (Jack) Fletcher of Bluffton, SC, and one son, J. Kenneth (Beverly) Miller of Muncie, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jackie (Edwin) Breland of Columbia, SC, Nancy (Quinn) Lowe of Cary, NC, J.
