Marilyn (Howard) Burkhardt, age 77, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, August 27. Marilyn was born July 29, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Eleanor and Jack Blatterman.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Jerry Burkhardt, sisters Jackie Hickey, MO, and Bonnie Mullins, NC, and children Karen Howard and her husband Fred Fedeli of Washington, DC; Pam Thaman and her husband Sheldon Jantz of Colorado; Joe Howard and his wife Sandy of Springfield, and seven grandchildren.
Marilyn raised her family in Springfield, MO where she spent countless hours volunteering for the Girl Scouts and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Whether it was writing a handbook, organizing fundraisers or putting together cookbooks, Marilyn gave her all. Her diverse talents as an accomplished pianist, gardener, decorator, seamstress and hostess fed her entrepreneurial spirit. Marilyn owned and operated La Fabrique, a fine fabric and seamstress shop in Springfield, and in her later years received awards for her opulent Bed and Breakfast operations in South Carolina.
A funeral Mass to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield, Missouri on Saturday October 17, 2015.
