Marilyn L. Matthews, M.D.

Marilyn L. Matthews, M.D., 70, of Hilton Head Island, SC died Friday, May 16, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, GA. Dr. Matthews was born in Wilmington, Delaware on August 25, 1943, the daughter of the late Samuel Lee and Sara Brodsky Lee. She was a practicing physician for over 30 years with HealthPartners HMO in St. Paul, MN. During retirement, she volunteered with the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic in Hilton Head Island, SC. Her interests also included serving as Vice Chairman of the Heritage Safe Haven Committee for the Heritage Golf Tournament and becoming a certified water aerobics instructor. Dr. Matthews was a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, John; her daughters, Jennifer and Sharon; and her four grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Sea Pines Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic, 15 Northridge Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926.
