Mark Reid Jenkins, beloved husband of Carolyn (née Bythewood) Jenkins, passed from earthly life into the presence of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit on Saturday morning the 8th of October. He was predeceased by his parents James Nolan Jenkins and Virginia Neal Jenkins as well as his only sibling James Nolan Jenkins, Jr. In addition to his wife of 50 years, Mark is survived by two sons and three grandchildren. His elder son, Eric Carter Jenkins is married to Jenmon (née Yuen) Jenkins. His younger son, Adam Reid Jenkins has three children, Nathanael Evin Jenkins, Patrick Reid Jenkins, and Sawyer Ann Jenkins.
Born and raised in Greater Atlanta, Mark was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School. He served as a corpsman in the United States Navy. Following his service to this country, Mark worked in the healthcare communities of the Southeastern United States and internationally. Mark represented a number of medical device companies including OsteoImplant Technologies, Inc. where he rose to the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Mark’s passions in addition to his family and friends included love for his dogs, fishing, woodworking, furniture restoration, growing tomatoes & peppers, his smoker, and telling a funny story. Mark and Carolyn retired to the Lowcountry of South Carolina in 2019.
Funeral services and internment will be held on Friday the 21st of October, 2022 at the Church of the Cross, 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton 29910 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Mark’s 10 years as a patient at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, donations may be made to The National Children’s Cancer Society ( https://theNCCS.org/ ) or to the Friends of Patients at the NIH ( https://FriendsatNIH.org/ ).
