Martin H. Jones

July 31, 1965 — October 23, 2024

Ridgeland

Martin H. Jones, 59, of Ridgeland, SC passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, GA.

Martin was born July 31, 1965 in Ridgeland to the late Edward Martin Jones and Nadine Kelley Jones. He was raised in Hardeeville, where he enjoyed riding bikes and getting in trouble with neighborhood friends. He also spent time working at his dad's garage on HWY 17, learning the trade. After receiving training and certification in HVAC, he began his career in 1982 with Nelson Epperson as a Lead Installer and Field Supervisor, later becoming Vice President and New Construction Manager. As the company evolved over the years, Martin continued to work up the ladder until 2005, when the company became EAC Heating & Air with Martin as Co-Founder and Partner.

Martin was known to be a perfectionist in his career and at home, working with his hands to create something beautiful on his farm. He was proud of the home he had made with the love of his life, Jessica, and their many animals. Always the entertainer, he would enjoy hosting gatherings for his family and friends at the barn. They even hosted three weddings, in addition to their own beautiful wedding in 2023!

Martin loved anything with a motor, whether rebuilding a car or riding his motorcycle with friends. He spent many nights breaking things apart and putting them back together again, better than they were before, a talent that came naturally to him.

Martin was always willing to lend a hand to anyone, whether it was assisting neighbors with hurricane clean-up, fundraisers for community members, or through Bikers Make a Difference (BMAD). Once you met him, he considered you a life-long friend.

In addition to his wife, Jessica VanEss Jones, Martin is survived by his brother, Kenny Kelly (Charlotte); sisters, Margaret Eddings (Bill), Ginger McGill, and Patricia Jones; mother in law, Sally VanEss; brother-in-law, Sean VanEss; sister-in-law, Elyse VanEss; “brother from another mother,” Anthony Carson; nephews, Stephen Eddings, Jonathan Eddings (Meghan), Christopher McGill (Anna) and Johnny McGill (Jennifer); nieces, Erin ()Catherine Keew (Peter), Jessica Strickland (David) Estelle Hubbard (JD), Ashley Colletti (Phillip, deceased), and Jessica DeVore (Tre); many great-nephews and great-nieces; and a host of friends that he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends 5:00 pm—7:00 pm, Friday, October 25, 2024 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland. A visitation will begin at 1:30 pm, Saturday, October 26, 2024 until the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Red Dam Baptist Church, 488 Red Dam Church Rd., Hardeeville.
