Marvin Robert Droege

Marvin Robert Droege, 73, of Bluffton, S.C. passed away peacefully on November 12, 2019 at the Medical University of South Carolina.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 18, 1946 to the late Helen Holley and Marvin Russo Droege.  He was preceded in death by his brother John Paul Droege in the year 2001.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and his loving family which includes 4 Sister and 5 Brother-in-laws.  In addition, 2 nieces, 5 nephews, 5 great nieces and 6 great nephews, several cousins, a multitude of friends and his best furry buddy, Cody.

Marv loved his family, his friends, and the US army.  He was a veteran of two tours of duty in Vietnam from January 1967 to January 1970 and a recipient of two Purple Hearts.  His affiliation with the army never stopped as he continued with volunteer work at the USO at the Savanna airport.  He was a member  of the VFW, the 1st Cavalry Division Assn, the VA, the American Legion and the Sun City Veterans Club.

Marv attended Western Military Academy in Alton, IL, Ohio State University and Portland Community College in Oregon.  His professional career was in sales as his forte was successfully communicating with people.  He was an avid reader of books, his favorites written by Tom Clancy and John Grisham.

Sauls Funeral Home is serving the family.  A memorial service is being planned for 11:00 am, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm at Sun City Riverbend.
