Mary J. Browning

Mary J. Browning, age 89, of Ridgeland died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at home. Mrs. Browning was born on May 3, 1927 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late Richard Lell and Mary Irene Hubbach Tucker. She enjoyed painting, square dancing, and shopping. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles Browning, Sr.; brothers, Jimmy Lell (wife, Sue), Junie Tucker (Maggie), and Eddie Tucker (Peggy). She is survived by her daughters, Carol Hargreaves (David), Constance Cole (Jonathan), and Cindy Brett; son, Chuck Browning (Tina); grandchildren, Melissa Wolthoff (Tom), Bethany Olson (Eric), Joshua Hargreaves, Jennifer Theuerkauf (Robert), Jonathan Brett, Chelsey Arguello (Ethan), and Joe Webb (Isis); great-grandchildren, Collin, Olivia, Flynn, Nicholas, Emma, Robbie, Sidney, and Anthony. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 506 West Main Street, Ridgeland, SC 29936. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will follow the service at Lowcountry Memorial Gardens, Bluffton, SC. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, or Jasper Animal Rescue Mission.
