Mary Alice Doublet, 98, of Bluffton, SC passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Sprenger Healthcare of Bluffton.
Mary was born on August 20, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late John and Mary Frisch, and the wife of the late Col. Alvin Joseph Doublet, USMC (Ret.) Mary left Pittsburgh in the early 1950s to become a military wife. Her focus was always on her late husband and children. She cared for everyone in the family and kept them organized. She was often affectionately referred to as the “chief of staff.” Mary also found time to perform volunteer work in hospitals and charitable outlets. In addition, she was a consummate gardener and at one time “dabbled” in golf.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Dr. Bluffton, SC. An interment ceremony will follow at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Debra (Allan) Clark of Bluffton and Christine Doublet of Greenville, NC; her son, Louis Doublet of Katy, TX; her grandchildren, Jennifer Clark of Little Rock, AR and Jillian (Matt) Clark Davis of Kennesaw, GA an her great-grandson, Connor Davis.
A memorial mass will be held at a date to be annouced, at St. Andrew’s Chapel, Pinckney Colony Dr. An interment ceremony will be held at the Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, Virginia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bluffton Self Help (https://blufftonselfhelp-bloom.kindful.com/) or to a charity of your choosing.
