Mary Ruth Mike

Mary Ruth Young Mike was born on Chelsea Plantation in Ridgeland, SC on June 26, 1940, to the union of the late Hattie Mae McDonald Young and Joseph Young, Sr. She attended Beaufort County Schools.

On February 14, 1960, Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Smith Mike, Sr. They shared 25 years of loving marriage until his death in January of 1984.

Mary was employed at the Career Education Center as a custodian until retirement. She dedicated herself as an usher at the Saint Luke Baptist Church for a numerous amount years.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Smith Mike, Sr.; sister, Frances Louise Lawyer; brothers, Moses Young and Joseph Young, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Polly Ann Young and Della Mike; and brothers-in-law, Dennie Mike and George Pinckney.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Margaret (Edward) Bolden of Ridgeland, SC, Phyllis Mike of Okatie, SC, Thomas (Trina) Mike of Rincon, GA, Smith (Tamika) Mike, Jr. of Ridgeland, SC, Lillie Sheppard of Beaufort, SC, Della Mike of Okatie, SC, Terrance Mike of Okatie, SC, Helen (Otis) Holmes of Okatie, SC; sister, Ethel Wilson of Bluffton, SC; brother, Joseph Fields of Savannah, GA; brothers-in-law, Nathan Lawyer of Ridgeland, SC, Felix Mike of Felton, DE; sisters-in-law, Rachel Boyd of Okatie, SC, Margaret Mike of Savannah, GA, and Nettie Mike and Priscilla Hall, both of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
