Mary Smith Mitchell, 89 of Beaufort, SC and widow of Richard Allen Mitchell, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014 at the Bayview Manor, Beaufort, SC. She was born in Cummings, SC on July 31, 1925 to the late Edgar and Vergie Cope Smith. She is survived by her brother, Joseph E. Smith (Carolyn) of Hampton, SC; her sister, Dorothy S. Cope of Beaufort, SC and Frances Patton (Bob) of Savannah, GA and her sisters in law, Jennie V Smith of Ridgeland, SC, Frances Smith of Port Wentworth, GA and Mary Smith of Pinacle, NC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC with burial on Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, NC.
