Mary Mathilda Morel Mccollum

Mary Mathilda Morel McCollum, 87, of Bluffton, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. Mary was born November 15, 1924 to the late James Seagrove Morel & Mary Myrtle Todd in Hagan, Georgia. She married Jim McCollum in 1947 and had 3 children - Lynn, Jimmy & Cathy. Mary flew planes during WWII as part of the Civil Air Patrol and worked at Bell South as an operator. She has lived in Bluffton over 30 years & attended Bluffton United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and played the piano. She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter Lynn. She is survived by daughter Cathy Kitchens of Covington, GA and son Jim (Karen) McCollum of Eagan, MN, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Bluffton United Methodist Church, 101 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC 29910.
