Mary Elizabeth Smith Mears

Mary Elizabeth Smith Mears, widow of Bennie C. Mears, died July 15, 2013 at Ridgeland Nursing Center. She was born on June 9, 1931 in Ridgeland, SC the daughter of the late Reese and Eleanor Long Smith. She was a graduate of Grays High School. She was retired from the Import and Export Business in Charleston, SC. She was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church and a member of the International Transport Club of Charleston. She is survived by her daughters, Meredith M. Smith (Keith) of Grays, SC and Amy C. McKelvey (Gregory L.) of Charleston; sisters Matilda Smith of Hilton Head Island, SC, Vivian Davis of Ridgeland, SC and Zelda Stanley of Grays, SC; grandchildren Elisha Smith, Gregory L. McKelvey Jr., great grandchildren, Louie Smith and Logan Smith and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandson, Darie Linder and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am, Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams Street, Ridgeland with burial following in Grimes Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to The Ridgeland Nursing Center, 1516 Grays Highway, Ridgeland, SC 29926.
