Mary Ann Stanic (nee Zak)

Mary Ann Stanic passed away Thursday, February, 19, 2015 at her home in Sun City, South Carolina. Mary Ann was the loving mother of Steven (Cindy) Stanic of Jackson, Mississippi; Sean (Andrea) Stanic of Trophy Club, Texas; and Elizabeth (Gilles) Douet of Dublin, Ireland; beloved grandmother of Steffany, Sarah, and Mathew of Jackson, Mississippi; Spencer, Amber and Parker of Trophy Club, Texas; Céline and Juliette of Dublin, Ireland; cherished sister of Audrey Merhaut of Cleveland, Ohio; dear Aunt to several nieces and nephews; and survived by the father of their children Donald Stanic, South Colleyvine Ranch, Texas.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and educated at St. Vitus Elementary School, Notre Dame Academy and graduated from the former St. John's College, Mary Ann was an Elementary School Special Needs Teacher for 30 years, working the majority of her career at Hilltop Elementary School in Canfield, Ohio, where she was devoted to helping students in their learning achievements and where she valued dear friendships among fellow teachers and staff. She was an active member of St. Michael's Parish in Canfield, Ohio and St. Gregory the Great Parish in Bluffton, South Carolina, following a post-retirement move to her home in Sun City.
Mary Ann will be remembered for her abundant love for family and friends, her generosity of spirit and caring, and her active community and volunteer service wherever she resided. Her family would like to thank all dear friends, family and special neighbors that made her life joyful, enriched and full of warmth - she genuinely loved most getting together and spending time with family and friends near and far.
