Mathew Joseph Vedra

Mathew Joseph Vedra, 85, of Bluffton, SC, husband of Carolyn Schmidt Vedra, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Ridgeland Nursing Center in Ridgeland, SC.

Mr. Vedra was born May 26, 1933 in Rossford, OH to the late Mathew J. Vedra and Elizabeth Makovic Vedra. He served his community as a police chief in Rossford. He attended St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and was a 4 ^th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Vedra enjoyed working in his yard, golfing, and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Vedra is survived by his daughter, Marcy Ackerknecht of Simpsonville, SC; brother, Joseph Vedra of Whitehouse, OH; sister, Julie Ann Kulakowski of Rossford, OH; and granddaughter, Allyson Ackerknecht. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Stephen Vedra.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ohio. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with arrangements.
