Maureen Anne Higgins Zabler, 66 of Bluffton, SC passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at her home. She was born on June 15, 1944 in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of the late David and Carolyn Higgins. Maureen was a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She was a pioneer as one of the first women Special Agents hired by the FBI. Maureen also was a research biologist at the University of Pittsburgh Hospitals. She earned her BS degree from St. Josephs College in Emmettsburg, PA and her MS degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Maureen was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI.She is survived by her most loving husband, Dr. Jeffrey F. Zabler; brother, Thomas Higgins; stepson, Jake (and Beth) Zabler; and grandchildren, Olivia, Kolya and Cait. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm, Friday, March 4, 2011 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Rd. Bluffton, SC. The family will receive friends starting at 11:15 at the church.
